Type 19 Specialists is the evolution of type19.co.uk — 15 years restoring classic VWs from Lancaster, Lancashire. We build 16V engines, manufacture reproduction parts that VW discontinued, and supply restoration-grade ironmongery.
We restore the cars ourselves. That means we know exactly which parts fail, which are impossible to source, and what the market actually needs. When VW discontinued the 16V timing covers and nobody else stepped up, we started manufacturing them. That’s the Type 19 approach — if it doesn’t exist, we make it.
Our engine builds use genuine OEM components from Elring, Mahle, Febi, and VW. Every rotating assembly is balanced. Every surface is super-finished. We don’t cut corners because we fit these engines into our own restorations.

Reproduction parts nobody else makes
The 16V timing covers prove this. OEM discontinued, aftermarket non-existent. We fill the void with SLS-printed parts rated to 200°C.
