Mk2 Golf 9A 16v engines restored to factory-fresh condition with every component replaced using OEM manufacturers. The original bore is increased to 2088cc — the largest and safest engine capacity possible without moving to a stroker build. Ideal for owners who want meaningful capacity over the standard 2.0, while keeping factory reliability and serviceability.

Block work

  • Acid dipped and powder coated in crinkle black
  • Bores increased and honed to 2088cc (84mm)
  • New Mahle pistons
  • Crank, rods and flywheel balanced as standard
  • New Sachs clutch with Mahle bearings and rings

Cylinder head

  • Valve faces skimmed, inlet and exhaust surfaces machined
  • New Febi hydraulic tappets, Mahle valve guides
  • Bosch distributor reconditioned
  • Titanium exhaust studs throughout

External components

  • Reconditioned Bosch alternator, vapor blasted
  • Febi oil cooler and water pump
  • Reconditioned power steering pump
  • New OEM Volkswagen coolant hoses with colour-matched clamps

Lead time & core surcharge

Builds take 8 to 12 weeks from order confirmation. A £750 core surcharge is included in the listed price and refunded in full upon receipt of a rebuildable core.
